Shortwave Fade single launch party

Shortwave Fade are busy gearing up for their single release and launch party. The first single to be released from their album will be 'Leave', on September 8th. The launch party follows on September 13th at the Notting Hill Arts Club. In the run up to this they have received some great reviews, and the band are set to gain more momentum in the coming months in the lead up to the album release, which will be early next year. Crawley lads The critical this week confirm that Guy Katsav will be producing their album, set to be released in the early part of 2009. They are really excited about working with Guy who thought that the band have lots of potential. Guy has recently worked with chart toppers Noah and the Whale and The Gossip. Miranda Barber nominated in Australian Songwriter Awards!

Miranda Barber's tracks "Sweetheart's Embrace" and "Too Damn Hard" have both been shortlisted in the Australian Songwriter Awards. This is huge recognition for her album and song writing abilities, especailly to have 2 tracks in one category! (Acoustic/Folk). The awards are judged by industry professionals and she will find out the results in the next few weeks.

Lights Action in Kerrang! magazine!

The Lights Action boys have been busy recording their debut album, titled "Welcome To The New Cold World". This week they have been chatting to Kerrang! magazine about recording the album in Union Chapel. Temposhark keeping busy!

Temposhark continue to build more momentum for their second album and have this week announced that they been picked by Sony Ericcson to play at "Run to the Beat", the half marathon to music. The event will take place on the 5th October. The audience at the event looks to exceed 30,000 people and will be broadcast on Channel 4! The event partners with the Evening Standard and Heart fm, so will no doubt give Temposhark even more exposure!

Temposhark have also found out that their video for 'Blame' will be showcased at the ViMUS international music video festival in Portugal. This event promotes the videos and celebrates their visual creativity.

Armstrong have announced that they join bands such as "Fightstar", "Enter Shakiri" and "Bullet for my Valentine" to be sponsored by Jagermeister. The band are keeping the deal tightly under wraps but we know that it will involve sponsorship of the bands forthcoming gigs and further down the line a deal on merchandise. The band are currently locked away in a Leeds studio finishing the album which will be released early next year. Walk.DontWalk now in the final 4 of Road To V

It has just been announced that Walk.DontWalk have made it to the final 4 in the Road To V competition to win a slot at this year’s V Festival!

The judges – including NME journalist Mark Beaumont and Dirty Pretty Thing Carl Barat – selected the bands they thought stood out from the crowd and have what it takes to open this year's V Festival, based on the performances at the competition finals back in May and reviews from gig attendees.

The judges are currently deciding who the 2 winners will be and you can influence their decision by letting them know what you think of Walk.DontWalk here.

The winners are due to be announced at 12.15am, 14th August, on the Channel 4 Road To V show. Fingers crossed!

Temposhark win at SXSW Click!

Temposhark have won the final for SXSW Click in the music video category. They were one of 3 to make it to the final and were picked by "an esteemed jury". The video for 'Blame' will now be screened at SXSW Film Festival 2009. Not only is this great recognition for Temposhark but will also give them some huge industry exposure. SXSW click is "created to showcase short-form storytelling via mobile devices and the web". Temposhark are currently recording their Slicethepie funded album, due to be released in 2009.

Having now been around just over a year, Slicethepie artists are quickly completing their albums and there are some releases to look out for over the coming months.

Shortwave Fade go for a more traditional approach releasing a single followed by their album. Their single 'Leave' is released on September 8th, the album is currently being mixed and looks set to be released at the end of October.

With £15,000 to promote his debut album Shaun Barrowes is also gearing up for his album release on September 23rd. Currently Shaun is filming a video for ‘I Still Loved You’.

Tommy Ludgate, who is quickly filling her schedule with gigs around London, will then be releasing her debut, ‘Wall of Words’ on October 6th.

October sees another release from our Canadian financed artist, John Tayles. John has worked with top producer Darren Grahn, and has recently undergone a makeover ready to hit Canada by storm.

Last week we announced that The Critical had made it in to the last 30 band in the Supajam competition to play at FIB Heineken Festival 2008 - they are now down to the last 5 acts and will be battling it out at the Pigalle Club on July 1st.

We can also confirm that Chris Brown will be producing their album, his credits include: The Beatles, Blur, Massive Attack, Paul McCartney, Muse, My Vitriol, Radiohead, Spice Girls, Starsailor, Supergrass - so it's set to be a busy summer of gigging and recording!

Walk.DontWalk last week played their 'Road to V' gig at Liverpool Carling academy which went down a storm! One of the judges, Mark Beaumont (from NME) writes: "But the find of the night - and perhaps the entire contest - were Walk.DontWalk from Birmingham, who jerked, jolted, waltzed and trumpeted their way through the night's most electrifying set, complete with their bussed-in crowd of Brummie nutters going decidedly mental in a girl-flinging, dress-removing, mate-piggybacking, TV camera-grabbing frenzy. A turbo-charged Coral anyone?" The gig will be aired on Channel 4 this summer with the winners playing at the V festival in August.

Miranda has recently returned from gigging in Berlin. She is through to the semi finals of the Troubadour singer/songwriter competition, held at the famous Schlot Jazz club. The final (if she makes it) will take place in June, which will coincide brilliantly with the release of her debut Album, "Lips' Decision". Winning the Troubadour competition would secure Miranda, amongst other things, a German Tour and writing retreat.

The Walk.DontWalk guys have been really busy rehearsing, getting ready for their time in the studio! They've managed to squeeze in a few gigs whilst also finding the right producer and studio. We announced on site last week that Walk.DontWalk will be working with former Arctic Monkeys engineer, Laurence Brazil. Laurence has worked with an array of artists ranging from The Kooks to Sophie Ellis Bexter. Walk.DontWalk will begin recording in Konk Studios at the end of May.

Having sold over 3,000 EPs on the tour and had their debut single featured on iTunes for 6 weeks, there is growing buzz around Scars' debut album.

Having talked to several big name producers Tommy has now finalised plans for work on her debut album with Tom Kelly at Mark Angelo studios. Mark Angelo studios have some big clients including Belle and Sebastian and Jamie Cullum to name but a few! Tom Kelly is an established engineer with some brilliant industry connections and has recently worked with Beverly Knight and Jocelyn Brown. The album is set to be released at the end of June.

Katrina Bello - Contracts suspended

Over the past few weeks it has become clear that Katrina is not in a position to make a professional album in the required timescale, and as a result she will not be proceeding on Slicethepie. Backstage Pass holders in Katrina Bello will all be refunded within a week and Katrina's Contracts will be delisted from the exchange with holders of the Contracts being credited with 50 pence per Contract held or, if greater, the amount of their total investment in Katrina's Contracts to date. This is an isolated case, all other Slicethepie financed artists are on course to delivering their albums.

'Trail' becomes first direct financing band of 2008

Trail, the 2007 winners of the Capital FM Unsigned Competition and finalists in 02's Undiscovered competition, have become the first band to follow the direct financing route on Slicethepie in 2008. Trail will be raising £20,000 through the sale of Backstage Passes for £5 each. Every Backstage Pass will entitle investors to:

- A free digital copy of the album
- Involvement in the making of the album and other exclusive benefits from the band
- The right to buy 4 Contracts at 25 pence each

Trail had already attracted over £15,000 direct finance from fans and investors on Sellaband, proving the strength of their fan base. However they were keen to retain their copyright and publishing rights and wanted to offer a proper financial return to their investors and themselves. They therefore approached Slicethepie to manage the financing process on their behalf.

The Skies have been recording in Miloco Studios in London, which is where '(What's The Story) Morning Glory' was recorded. Their first single of 2008, 'Hypnotised', is due out in April, followed by their album out this summer.

Scars on 45 were featured in 'The Telegraph' this weekend. They are busy in the studio working on their album which they will be self producing. Managed by heavenly management, they are a band to watch out for in 2008. Album due out this spring.

The Alps single “Something I Might Regret” has just been play-listed on Xfm. “Something I Might Regret” is also the title of their debut album (produced by Dave Allen who produced The Cure) which will be released in March. The Alps are gaining some great exposure including being featured in both 'The Independent' and 'The Observer'.

Our 5th financed band, Scars on 45 are raising their profile significantly at the moment, with their debut single ‘Tired Eyes’ being featured for an amazing 6 weeks on the iTunes homepage! This indie six piece from Leeds, will soon be releasing their debut album, where they have collaborated on a few tracks with members from the platinum selling group Starsailor – famed for hits such as ‘Silence is easy’ and ‘Lullaby’. They are also confirming a tour slot with Reverend and the Makers for next year. Definitely a band to watch for 2008.

Scars on 45’s single ‘Tired Eyes’ has been featured for a fourth week running on iTunes - The single released on October 22nd has been doing so well that iTunes have it featured amongst other singles released this week such as Oasis ‘Lord don’t slow me down’ and Kings of Leon ‘Charmer’. Scars on 45 are building great momentum and are currently in the studio working on their debut album.

Danny from the band said “The single is doing really well and we just can’t wait to get the album done - we’ve been really busy in the studio and all is going to plan. We’re confident the album is going to be f*cking brilliant” Watch this space!

Scars on 45 have released their first single and it is now available to buy on iTunes. Due to impressive sales, iTunes are featuring it for the second week in a row on their home page under singles/rock – this is a great start and bodes well for strong album sales next year.

Following the takeover of Gilkicker on the Trading Exchange, Slicethepie announces that all Gilkicker Contracts have now been delisted from the Exchange and redeemed. All Gilkicker Contract holders trading accounts have been credited with £1.88 per contract redeemed, representing a 276% profit on a typical investment of £0.50 per Contract.

24 October 2007 - Only 3 months ago Gilkicker raised £15,000 from their fans and investors on Slicethepie in just one week, making them the fastest Internet funded band in history.

Gilkicker is now in detailed negotiations with a major record label.

As a direct result there has been a takeover of all Gilkicker Contracts on the Slicethepie Trading Exchange at £1.88 each, a 50% premium to the market price, with a total payout of over £20,000.

A typical investor who spent £15 on a Backstage Pass and Contracts in Gilkicker will still receive a free copy of Gilkicker’s debut album once completed. However, their £5 worth of Contracts will be cashed in next week for £18.75, realizing an almost 300% return. A few fans who bought multiple Contracts back in July have landed profits of several hundred pounds.

Due to a preliminary approach that may or may not lead to Gilkicker’s Contracts being acquired at a premium by a third party, trading in Contracts in Gilkicker have been temporarily suspended pending a further announcement.
